History of The Light of Life Gospel Mission Church
The Light of Life Gospel Mission is not a break away Church from any denomination or ministry. It is a branch established by Rev. Emmanuel and Beatrice Osae on their return from Nigeria in 1984, as a branch church of the Redeemed Evangelical Mission in Nigeria after three months of street and house-to-house evangelism at Abeka-Lapaz.
This brought about Forty converts as foundation members of the church. Pastor Osae returned to Nigeria to report to the executive council of the Redeemed Evangelical Mission about the progress of the new branch church in Ghana. The executive council of the church in Nigeria came out with the decision that they were no longer interested in continuing with the work in Ghana because of unresolved issues about their foreign missions at that time. Pastor Osae returned to Ghana and informed members of the new church about the decision of the church in Nigeria.
Pastor Osae and his wife Beatrice, after waiting on the Lord in prayers decided to continue the work with a new name for the church which is THE LIGHT OF LIFE GOSPEL MISSION.
The church was meeting in an uncompleted building which was being used as class room by Teachers Experimental School at Lapaz. After some time, the owner of the house who returned from overseas ejected the school from the building in order to complete the building. The church also had to stop meeting in the building because it was authorities of the school who allowed the church to meet in one of the classrooms.
At this juncture and after a hard search for place to gather the new soul, Mr. and Mrs. Ababio whose son Nana Yaw was among the new convert welcome the church to meet at the porch of their house which is now the TEWU house. This kind gesture of the Ababio family saved the church from being disorganized and losing its members who were all new converts. Mr. and Mrs. Ababio joined the one-hour Sunday School class which was held every Sunday morning in the church. The church initially met only on Sunday morning for a one-hour Sunday School.
The Church later relocated to continue fellowship in an uncompleted house five blocks away from the Ababio’s house. After months of moving from one place of meeting to the other, the church became fully organized and settle in the new place; the uncompleted building, where midweek service [Tuesday and Friday] were introduced.
The Light of Life Gospel Mission was registered as a religious organized on June 5, 1987.
As the church began to grow with the need to have at least a temporal structure as a meeting place of the church, the plot of land on which the church is now located was rented. A temporal structure was erected on the plot which became a permanent place of meeting for the Light of Life Gospel Mission. After some years of occupancy on a rental basis, the church negotiated and purchased the plot on which the present auditorium of the church is built.
